Here we are, my very first blog post. (I hope I'm not making a colossal mistake.. that would be embarrassing.) What should I write about?
Oh I know! Something serious and stuffy, perhaps slightly snappy and sure to get at least one person's panties in a wad. Sure, that sounds good! Here we go...
I have a pet peeve I think it would be best to just get out there and over with. If we reach an understanding now then you can decide if you want to read further or maybe try to find something else to read that's a little closer to your tastes. Either way, addressing this now (hopefully) saves me from the pissy people later.
In the last maybe decade or so, especially in the last four or five years it seems, there has been this attitude seeping into everything. I think it started when everyone started trying to be politically correct. Can't have people getting offended! But then this attitude took a darker twist when people began looking for reasons to be offended. Why? Who knows. Maybe they wanted to look like they were standing up for injustice, maybe their ego just needed the attention. Perhaps some of them actually thought they were standing up for an injustice, no matter how ridiculous or small-minded they were being. Doesn't matter really.
What does matter is how far down into the muck pit this attitude has gone. Nowadays you can't even support something without people making an ass of themselves by assuming that you must be putting down the people on the other side. Support breastfeeding? You must be shaming formula feeders! Support vaccines? You must be against those with autism! Support a religion? You must hate on those that doesn't believe the same as you!
Ugh. Enough already.
If you are one of those people, stay away, this blog isn't for you. I will be completely upfront with you and say there are things I support and there are things I am against. But one does not equal the other. I am a firm breastfeeding advocate but in no way do I think less of mothers who used formula. Never make assumptions into anything I say. I will always mean exactly what I say, no hidden meanings, no secret agendas. If I say one thing, don't ever assume that you must know how I feel about something else. If you want to know how I feel about that something else, ask me. I will gladly answer as transparently and uncensored as possible.
So there we go. Here we are. I will talk about all sorts of things, there really will not be a consistent line of thought here ever. One day it will be about babies, another cooking and another the environment. I'll never know. But if there's ever something you'd like me to talk about, please tell me and I will do my best. Questions? Ask away. Comments and suggestions? Please tell me. I may not follow them or agree with you but I'll always hear them.
I hope we understand each other. This is going to be an interesting ride.
