1. What was your favourite book as a child?
Probably The Little House on the Prairie series. There were so many books I loved as a child, reading was one of my most favorite things to do. But I believe it all started with that series as my father read them to me every night and it grew in me a love of books and reading. To this day every time I smell the pages of a well worn old book I think of my dad and those nights cuddled in bed reading a story.
2. If you could meet a character from a book, who would it be?
I'm going to make this two characters because these two come as a matching pair. Richard Rahl and Kahlan Amnell from The Sword of Truth series by Terry Goodkind. I love fantasy stories that transport me to another world full of magic and fantastical creatures and take me on mythical adventures. This series does all that and more. Truly this couple embodies everything a couple should be; loving, respectful, united, fearless, honorable and noble. For me, they are the ultimate perfect duality of male and female joined as one. (And the series is Just. Freakin. Epic.)
3. If you were a genre of music, what would it be?
Probably some kind of meditative music, with nature sounds and instrumentals and no actual words, just vocal sounds like ah's and mm's. I find that music so soothing in that it doesn't distract but enhances.
4. If you could have one super power, what would it be?
This is a hard one, there are so many that would be valuable! I can think of a dozen that would be awesome to have but I'm going to have to say the power to heal. I would love to be able to instantly heal someone just by touching them. When you have been sick for a long time there is nothing quite so relieving and wonderful as to feel well again. I think it would be a great thing to be able to give that gift to others.
5. Name some of the things that bring you joy.
Easy. My son brings me so much joy every day, even in the hard moments when he won't sleep, or is sick, or just bit me while nursing. He is continually a marvel to me. I get to discover the world all over again through his eyes.
Completing a task. Even something mundane like cleaning a room or getting the laundry done, but especially the real projects. It's so satisfying to create something from bits and pieces or to make something new and beautiful from something old and worn. To watch the process unfold beneath your hands and know that you're the one that did it is a feeling like no other.
Spending time with my family is always a joy and something I am grateful to have.
6. What time of the day do you find most productive for blogging?
I'm still very brand new to blogging and haven't quite found my footing yet, so I don't have an answer to this one. Or I guess the answer would be that I'm still figuring it out.
7. What is your favourite season?
Autumn without a doubt. Coming off the heat of the summer and the temp is slowly getting cooler, enough to wear a jacket but not enough to be really cold. The wind, the falling leaves of all different colors and the sound of them crunching underfoot. The beginning of the holiday season and then the excitement of it all. I could go on there is just so much I love about the season but I'll stop there. (Oh and the clothes! The boots, jackets, scarves, shrugs and long heavy skirts, I love it all!)
8. What song (or songs) would be on the soundtrack of your life right now?
Hm... anyone that knows me would know that this is a very hard question. I enjoy the sound of quiet or of nature so much that I rarely listen to much music. I don't know what the new trends are or who's who. I could probably only name about ten bands/singers and only a handful of song titles. So I guess I'll just say that with all that's happened in my life I am immensely grateful for each and every day so a song I've always loved in that vein is "We Live" by Superchick.
9. If you could live one day of your life again, which would you choose?
Probably my 15th birthday party. I think it was the last time I really felt youthful and innocent and my family was together and happy and frivolous. The following year brought tragedies and my whole world took an abrupt turn in a different direction and everything I thought I knew was turned on its' head. But I clearly remember my 15th birthday where everyone was smiles, life was good and nothing but fun. Everything I've been through has made me who I am and there have been many moments since then that I love and cherish but that day will always live in my memory as the last truly innocent and simply happy time.
10. If you could travel to any moment in history, where would you go?
This is such a great question! There are so many momentous occasions in history that I would love to be a fly on the wall and observe! But if I could only pick one event I know just the one. I would travel to England during the reign of King Henry the VIII and watch the coronation of Anne Boleyn. That whole period of time is fascinating to me. The whole drama and scandal of putting aside Queen Katherine of Spain and marrying Anne Boleyn, a commoner, against the wishes of practically his whole kingdom! And then a short time later to have her beheaded because she failed to give him a son and he wanted to marry again. King Henry put the whole country and church into turmoil during the years of his six wives and in the end it was his daughter by Anne, and not the son he longed for, that would bring on the Golden Age of England. Yes, I would want to see the coronation of Queen Anne, the start of it all.
